As a production company we focus on brand and image elevation by providing conceptual design, key artists, makeup, body art, hair styling, special fx, costuming and headpieces, and models/performers. Some of these are provided via are in-house talent, and some are our affiliates.
If you are in search of a unique way to promote or express your concepts and objectives, The Body of Art can assist you by incorporating body art and installation into any situation. ANY situation. We have done beauty and body art for music videos with Lady Gaga and 50 Cent, art installations with Ron English and Travis Louie, keyed fashion shows for Venexiana and Creature of Comfort, and have done body art and beauty makeup for weddings and personal uses.
Of course! All the beauty and character make-up you will find on this website was designed and applied by the same artists as the body art. We believe in consistency and full production for our results. Whether Dani Fonseca is keying the look, or another BoA Lead Artist, our beauty makeup get the same elevated high fashion treatment, and is regarded as a top priority to complete the full look.
This answer is determined on 3 important factors: how many models, how many artists, and how detailed the design is. On average, the key artist and two assistants can finish 2-3 models in a full body design, with a full face of make-up and hair in just under 5 hours. The more people to assist on the job, the quicker it gets done.
We work with the highest quality and most durable products in the make-up and body art industry. We use techniques that prolong wear and provide water resistance. In moderate temperatures, the paint will last until it is washed off. For clients in sweaty physical situations – dancers, contortionists, gymnasts – we use waterproof products.
We can either hand cut a logo for you, or have a few custom made for you to keep for future events.
Of course, we are considerate of all situations. In more corporate settings, we dress the models in parties and underwear, then paint over top of that. We can also rent or make costumes pieces to give the models more coverage on their lower half.
A sufficient amount of assistants ensures efficient work in a timely manner, creating the best result possible. When there are enough hands to focus on every detail, the outcome is mind-blowing. We will always suggest a number of assistants needed for a job; hiring less than the suggestion risks the job taking longer, models tiring, and pushes quantity over quality. We want to make sure every detail is attended to!
We use a mix of different brands, products, and materials in our work. For body paint we use primarily water based color from Make Up For Ever, MAC, Kryolan, and Mehron. We also use alcohol, water, and silicone based airbrush product from Temptu. All are hypo allergenic and do not clog pores. We rarely use latex paint, as it constricts breathing ability of the skin, and limits detail.
Absolutely. We work with several couture clothing designers for this exact purpose. This is usually to compliment half-body paint designs, providing appropriate bottom costuming.
The body paint we use, even though durable, can be easily removed. Break down the make-up with baby oil, then scrub with a disposable loofah and soap. It is not suggested that a model do this at a venue. It is better to remove the paint at home, however, we will provide wipes to remove face make-up.
Partial body designs focus on the upper torso, waist up. Examples of this can be a shirt, corset, or abstract design. These differ in price from a full body design which includes legs and pelvic area.
BOA’s designers and artists are richly developed with fashion, art, and design expertise. When given a starting point, we can take it to the ultimate extreme. We do need a starting point though, even just a vague idea or picture, but our concept and design team can work with you through the rest.
The sky is the limit! Any concept is feasible. If the paint can only go so far, we use crystals, feathers and trimmings. If that is not enough, we add costume pieces, hair, nails. If you are interested in a full production with props, installation, set pieces, lighting, and video, please visit our sister company Living Masterpiece Productions.
A kit fee covers the specialty products we purchase to complete your artistic vision, like crystals or trimming. All the materials and products used in our work not only get used up quickly, but are also quality products. We purchase trimming and crystals for each job. All this is included in the kit fee. Costuming pieces are separate from a kit fee.
Being body painted is a unique experience, right up there with skydiving and deep sea snorkeling. It’s a way to release your inhibitions about being naked in an artistic and tasteful way. You should expect to feel awkward at first, but as you get painted, you start to feel much more comfortable. It’s a long process, but liberating in the end.
An excellent model can withstand long hours of prep work and still perform with energy. The night before, models need to exfoliate and shave. Women should shave/wax their legs, underarms, and pelvic area, while men need to shave/wax their chests, backs, and legs. Please do not moisturize the day of, it will repel the paint. Bring snacks and a robe during the day.
